Llamabull rides again.
After nearly two weeks of traveling in the car, Llamabull has rejoined the bikers. Llamabull, the trip’s mascot, rode the first 22 days of the trip, however began his boycott August 1st in Nebraska, the day the group road over 200 miles. The boycott stemmed out of a plea for more donations to Amigos, however there are several other rumors floating around to why he hasn’t ridden until now.
Rumor 1: Llamabull is actually fragile, despite his fierce façade, and couldn’t have gone the entire distance. However to save face, he decided to aggressively boycott the whole thing. Plus Llamabull hates rain.
Rumor 2: Lamabull dislikes Eastern Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. Too much corn, so little pasture.
Rumor 3: There was bad blood and confetti between Llamabull and leader Dave Landis (with whom Llamabull usually rides with).
Whatever the reasons, more donations have come in, the rain has stopped, Dave and Llamabull have made up, and Llamabull is on his way to the East Coast.
Final rumor: Llamabull may soon be put up on eBay with proceeds going to Amigos.
Keep those donations coming. Through our conversations across the nation, we have learned the values of listening and learning from each other. The money we are raising for Amigos will go directly towards helping young adults from ALL around the world (not just those who can afford it) join the conversation at the Youth Summit at Mennonite World Conference in Paraguay 2009. The Mennonite church is much larger and more diverse than our own national context, and we look forward to a global conversation that extends to all of our brothers and sisters around the world.
