Post BikeMovement Projects
While the biking portion of BikeMovement 2006 may have ended on August 25, 2006 on a sandy beach in Ocean City, New Jersey, several follow-up projects are in full gear. Look out for the upcoming BikeMovement Missio Dei publication, a collection of articles written by BikeMovement members. There are also plans to further develop this website into a resource for young adult thoughts and insights. We are starting to collect papers written by young adults in regards to faith and the church that will be developed into a resource database. If you would like to submit papers at this time, please send them to timothycs@goshen.edu .
Video Documentary Project
Another major project coming out of BikeMovement 2006 is a video documentary. At the moment, a team of transcribers are going through the 38 interviews conducted on the trip. The goal is to condense 32 hours of video footage into an hour long documentary on what young adults are saying about “church”. We are planning to produce a final DVD which may also include a shorter 10 minute recap to use in programs, as well as special features additional material that didn’t fit in the main documentary. The goal is to have this all completed by December.

Hi folks:
Congratulations on completing your ride!
I’m actually interested in the use of documentary film/video as a means for conducting educational research. And I love bike touring, as I completed my own cross country bike trip in 2000. Could you please let me know when your BikeMovement documentary is completed, and how I might obtain a copy?
Thanks,

Sebastian,
Thanks for you interest in the project!
What is the education research you are interested in? This documentary will focus on the conversations we had as young adults in churches. The biking will be the backdrop and visual element.
Also a warning on time frame, expect the documentary to come out December at the earliest. Early next year may be more realistic. All of us either have full time jobs or are students, and an hour long documentary is quite an undertaking especially with all the material we are currently wading through.
I’ve added your name to a list to contact when the documentary is finished. Check back to the website from time to time. Eventually I want to post a documentary trailer, as well as post other clips.
Thanks for your interest in the project!

Denver.
I spoke to someone who attended the Mennonite Young Adult Convention last weekend. They were part of the group that viewed the trailer/extended trailer? of the documentary project. The person I spoke to commented on how it moved her emotionally and was inspiring.
I checked out the downloadable trailer and it looks great.
Just wanted to pass along the affirmation.
